SR Rapid Risk Response Briefing

3 NOVEMBER 2015 | HILTON LONDON TOWER BRIDGE | 2.00PM TO 5.00PM

StrategicRISK is launching a new event concept for risk managers: the Rapid Risk Response Briefing.

We recognise that while risk professionals need to work around a strategic risk agenda, the risk landscape is also changing and evolving rapidly on a daily basis.

To deal with emerging threats – and opportunities – risk professionals must respond quickly and decisively.

The StrategicRISK Rapid Risk Response Briefing will transform the news agenda into a forum that brings together risk professionals to discuss how they can react/are reacting to emerging and emergent risks as events occur.

The news agenda sessions will form two parts. A pre-scheduled, topical news session and a breaking news session – and some of the topics may not be revealed until the days before each event.

"Coping with a rapidly changing risk landscape – practical steps and lessons learned"

14.00 SESSION 1: MANAGING REPUTATION RISK IN A CORPORATE CRISIS
Panel discussion with delegate interaction

Car manufacturer VW and the telecommunications/media company Talk Talk have both been involved in major incidents in recent weeks. Although the origin of these events is different – emissions fixing and a major cyber-attack – the primary consequence of both is reputational damage. This open forum session will consider but not be limited to the following:

  • • How should large corporations best manage incidents such as recent events with VW/Talk Talk?
  • • Is there an effective strategic response to deal with a major reputation crisis?
  • • Who should take the lead within a business for managing this type of crisis and what is the role of the risk professional when incidents emerge?
  • • How do you deal with the media? Is there an opportunity to get them on side?
  • • Can a company such as VW or Talk Talk recover effectively from this type of reputation damage or will it always be tainted?
15.00 SESSION 2: BUSINESS IMPLICATIONS OF THE EMEA MIGRATION CRISIS
Panel discussion with delegate interaction
  • • What is the likely impact on business of the current migration crisis in Europe – both from a short and long term perspective?
  • • Do the opportunities to business outweigh any threats?
  • • Do companies even consider the migration issue to be a concern or of interest to them? If not, why not?
  • • Is the migration issue only one of many risks around socio-demographic change – such as ageing populations – which are impacting on Europe and what is the overall effect likely to be for companies?
  • • Governments must lead the response to issues such as migration but is there a role to be played by business?
