AIRMIC is to be involved in a study by the National Audit Office: "Business Risk Management in Government". The National Audit Office has invited AIRMIC to join a ten-person expert panel which will advise the study team.

AIRMIC chairman Mark Butterworth will be joined on the panel by the ALARM (Association of Local Authority Risk Managers) chief executive Liz Taylor, a former AIRMIC chairman.

The National Audit Office (NAO) has already used some of AIRMIC's expertise in its literature promoting the initiative. It has adapted a jigsaw graphic from the AIRMIC Guide to Integrated Risk Management to produce an NAO/AIRMIC diagram.

The NAO reviews the performance of government departments, including the Cabinet Office. It reports directly to parliament rather than to the government.
