There is little or no precipitation on the horizon for Southern California for at least another seven days
Carvill has issued an update on the Californian wildfires.
The following excerpts are taken from the release:
Both the Los Angeles and San Diego metropolitan areas in Southern California are being menaced by a series of spreading wildfires.
At this time 13 separate fires are burning either uncontained or marginally contained. More than 350,000 acres of land has burned, more than 1,200 properties have been destroyed with more than 10,000 properties in San Diego County and almost 55,000 properties in Los Angeles County threatened by fire.
Currently the most severe and threatening fire is the so-far uncontained Witch Creek fire near San Diego, which is threatening the suburbs of San Diego itself and has already destroyed 500 homes. In the Los Angeles area, both the Buckweed and Canyon fires are prompting mass evacuations from Santa Clarita (Buckweed) and the canyons between LA and the Pacific Coast Highway (Canyon fire).
The cause of such a widespread fire outbreak is two-fold. A combination of extended dry weather and strong winds has created a number of significant wildfires in Southern California.
There is little or no precipitation on the horizon for Southern California for at least another seven days.
