Marsh appoints David Barr as a managing consultant in its UK environmental practice
Marsh has appointed David Barr as a managing consultant in its UK environmental practice. Barr joins Marsh from Willis, where he headed up its UK environmental team.
Barr, a qualified geologist and hydrogeologist, has worked with property investment and development funds, waste management companies, chemical manufacturing firms, and major oil and gas exploration and production businesses and retailers.
Commenting on Barr’s appointment, Cliff Warman, environmental practice leader for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marsh, said: "David will both strengthen and broaden the significant skills and experience of our Environmental teams in London and across Europe. He has an impressive technical background, coupled with his experience as a broker in the Environmental Impairment Insurance market, which will enable us to provide clients with even more focussed and robust environmental risk assessment and risk management advice.”
Barr added: “Environmental concerns remain high on boardroom agendas in 2008, as firms struggle to stay abreast of new legislation and meet their environmental obligations. With a range of stakeholders paying attention, firms are keenly aware of the need to be proactive. By placing environmental risk management at the heart of their business strategy, firms can tackle these issues head on, be more effective and ultimately gain a competitive edge.”
