April saw the launch of the AIRMIC Academy
April saw the launch of the AIRMIC Academy, a new project between AIRMIC, its partners and its preferred service providers, to respond to members’ wishes for short courses to increase their knowledge in particular areas.
A series of half day courses started on 29 April with the subject of insurance security and credit risk considerations. They will continue throughout the the year. Other topics include business continuity and disaster recovery, supply chain risk management, corporate governance, directors’ and officers’ insurance, and handling major claims.
David Gamble, previously executive director of AIRMIC, is acting as programme coordinator for the AIRMIC Academy. He says that the current economic climate is the right time to improve skill levels, and this is one way of doing it. ‘We want to support risk managers in the areas that they have identified as important.’
AIRMIC partners and preferred service providers are providing the training, either individually, or in partnership. The insurance security session, for example, is a joint effort between AM Best, Allianz and Aon.
‘We are grateful to so many of our partners for sharing their time and valuable intellectual property,’ says Gamble.
The sessions so far arranged will take place the AIRMIC office or at the offices of the providers, but if there is demand from members, AIRMIC will arrange courses in other centres.
