Former Willis practice leader Tom Teixeira has been appointed to expand the firm’s risk advisory and business resilience offerings
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), the global independent professional services firm, has appointed Tom Teixeira as managing director to its risk advisory services practice.
Teixeira, formerly Willis practice leader for integrated risk management, will expand A&M’s offering to focus on risk advisory and business resilience.
Managing director and practice leader for A&M’s insurance and risk advisory services in New York, Jim McDermott said: “In an increasingly complex world, boards and senior executives want risk management to drive business performance.
“With companies under huge pressure to cope with growing regulatory challenges, this is the perfect time to extend our offering in Europe and Tom is the right person to lead that.”
Teixeira, who is based in London, has almost two decades of experience in using risk management to drive business performance, working for example with Willis Group, Rolls-Royce and the UK Ministry of Defence. His experience covers multiple industry sectors, including aerospace and defence, life sciences, metals and mining and oil and gas.
Teixeira said: “Effective risk management is crucial to driving business performance and assurance. I’ve joined A&M because it provides the capability to offer a truly independent risk advisory service based on real-life experience, providing businesses with the tools to thrive using effective risk management as a real differentiator.”
During his time at Willis, Teixeira helped companies such as BAE Systems and Meggitt plc improve the reporting of risk information to support board corporate governance needs.
At Rolls-Royce, he ensured that risk management became fully integrated with strategic and financial planning, while also aligning the operational risk framework more closely with the firm’s risk financing and transfer strategy.
Teixeira began his career as a project manager for the Defence Procurement Agency, the UK Ministry of Defence and later served as head of risk management services with London-based consultancy, Active Risk.
