An expert group has been formed which will produce a thought leadership research report: Managing risk in the context of climate change.
The research will look at the strategic issues arising from climate change that face the insurance industry, from the perspective of UK-based insurance practitioners, including the London market. It will build on previous studies of climate change by the CII's Society of Fellows in 1994 and 2001, and will incorporate subsequent advances in science, relevant literature, the experience of insurance markets and developments in the global economy. The study group leader is Dr Andrew Dlugolecki, who chaired the CII's previous climate change research groups.
The study group will liaise with other relevant bodies and will cover a variety of aspects, such as the environmental policy of insurance companies, asset management, relevant aspects of global risk, climate policy and developments since 2001.
