With the election of two new members, Finland and Poland, the risk management associations of 15 countries are now represented in the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA).
The Risk Management Association of Finland(FinnRiMa) was founded in 1987 based on a working group of the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland. The association is holding a seminar on 11 October 2007 to mark its twentieth anniversary.
To begin with, FinnRiMa consisted of insurance managers from Finnish paper and steel mills, banks and other industries. Today, it has a membership of nearly 200, of whom about half are risk managers and half from other interested groups. Its chairman and representative on the FERMA board is Lassi Väisänen. He is the chief risk officer for TeliaSonera, a multinational telecom operator.
PolRisk held its first national conference in May 2007 when the membership had reached 50. About 85-90% are risk managers, either employees or independent consultants. The rest are described as supporting members, who are companies or individuals working in the insurance market. Business sectors represented include transport, IT, banking, energy, construction, production, environment, universities, municipal authorities and the travel business.
PolRisk's president and representative on the FERMA board is Rafal Rudnicki, group risk and insurance manager at the logistics company, Raben Group.
