Trust aims to use systems to meet compliance needs
Gateshead NHS Trust has implemented DATIX patient risk management software.
The aim is to give the Trust the systems to meet compliance needs.
Angela O’Brien, head of corporate risk at Gateshead Health said: “We needed a sophisticated level of integration, using a system that contained all patient and staff incidents, calling on multiple sources of data. It had to enable us to analyse a wide range of data, fast. After a competitive tender process we opted for DATIX as it met all the requirements of a sophisticated integrated reporting system.”
Of immediate importance to the trust was the integration of incident reporting with Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and Complaints.
“One of the most significant factors to the Trust is the time it takes from when incident reports are submitted to when they are received by an investigator. This determines how quickly an incident can be investigated.

Daniel Hazan, general manager of DATIX said, “We are delighted to welcome Gateshead Health to the DATIX community. We are helping the Trust to meet its mandatory reporting requirements. It is great to see how Gateshead Health is rapidly developing its use of DATIX by tackling increasingly sophisticated projects. We look forward to continuing to work with the Trust in a long term relationship where we can bring our knowledge and experience to bear.”
DATIX said its customers include around 75 % of the UK’s National Health Service.
