A recent issue of Business Ethics magazine lists the 100 best corporate citizens for 2001, America’s most profitable and socially responsible major public companies. It says that many companies are going to unusual lengths to address the needs and concerns of their various stakeholders. The top ten companies are: Procter & Gamble; Hewlett-Packard; Fannie Mae; Motorola; IBM; Sun Microsystems; Herman Miller; Polaroid; St Paul Cos, and Freddie Mac.
In compiling the list, Business Ethics used a database compiled by social research firm, Kinder, Lydenberg, Domini and Co (KLD)
