Welfare sector RMs join with Markel

Markel (UK) has launched a risk management service in conjunction with Janjer, a specialist care and health consultancy.

Commenting on the new arrangement, Steve Carroll, managing director of Markel (UK) said: ‘Appreciating that this is a specialist area, we recognised from the outset that our underwriters needed to work closely with clients to fully appreciate their individual risk exposures. This unique risk management feature is a natural progression, as our underwriters will be working in conjunction with specialist consultants who understand the Social welfare sector.’

He continued: ‘Clients will be able to talk to someone who understands their language, rather than a traditional insurance surveyor who is more likely to have a grounding in manufacturing or warehousing.’

Jerry Oliver, principal of Janjer added: ‘As far as I know, this is an insurance company ‘first’ and I am hopeful that Markel clients will quickly come to appreciate the risk management guidance and assistance we provide. We have a team of qualified consultants with a wealth of practical experience and we are excited at the prospect of helping Markel clients.’
