Internet service providers may be subject to the same libel laws as other media organisations.
An out of court settlement by internet service provider Demon Internet to Dr Laurence Godfrey suggests that such providers may be subject to the same libel laws as other media organisations. Demon paid Dr Godfrey £15,000 damages and around £230,000 for costs, following its refusal to remove allegedly defamatory postings about him despite two requests.
