Complacency is endangering UK workers, according to research released by Synstar
A survey of office-based professionals shows that only 23% would leave their desk in response to an emergency alarm, with 36% waiting to see what others did and 29% finishing their tasks first. Almost half would wait for up to five minutes before thinking an alarm might be genuine.
It appears that workers also allow strangers into their offices with no questions asked. Half of those questioned would only ask for identification or make enquiries 'if the person looks suspicious', and 18% never make any enquiries at all.
