Risk
management systems on parade
AIRMIC is hosting an exhibition of risk management systems in London on 28 September, following three successful similar events earlier this year in Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham. The exhibition will take place at the Novotel, 10 Pepys St, London EC3N 3NR.
About 180 members of AIRMIC and other associations in the Risk Federation have taken part in these road shows so far, with considerable interest coming from the public sector risk management body ALARM.
Contract certainty update
The contract certainty steering group, on which AIRMIC is represented by council member Kip Berkeley-Herring and technical director Paul Hopkin, has published new guidelines that offer greater clarity on the definition of contract certainty, which covers such points as agreement of policy wordings before policy inception and timely issue of documents.
The work of the steering group, created at the instigation of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), has focused the London market's attention. Performance and contract certainty rates across the London market are now consistently reported to be comfortably over 90%.
Enterprise risk management STudy
Case studies from companies that have implemented enterprise risk management (ERM) and demonstrably gained from it will form the basis of research by AIRMIC and consultants DNV. The companies who will take part in the research have now been identified and AIRMIC intends to publish the findings early in 2008. See: Understanding the benefits of ERM, p 32
