Federation announces the location of its next gathering
The venue for the next Ferma Forum in 2011 has been announced – and it’s Stockholm.
The city is currently constructing Stockholm Waterfront - a world-class convention centre for conferences, banquets and large-scale events. The main conference hall will seat 3,000 delegates. The same building will house a four-star hotel with 420 guest rooms and office accommodation. Ferma’s welcome reception will take place in the Stockholm Town Hall, a venue also famous for the Nobel Prize dinner.
The congress venue is centrally located between Central Station and Klara Sjö and the project, which has a very strong environmental focus, should be completed by 2010.
Charlotte Barnekow, chairwoman of SWERMA, the Swedish risk management association, said: ‘It is great for SWERMA to welcome our colleagues from the rest of the world to Stockholm and in particular our Scandinavian friends.’
It is understood that the competition for hosting the next Forum was a tight race between two Scandinavian cities, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Barnekow was magnanimous: ‘If it had been Copenhagen we would have been just as glad. Cooperating with out colleagues in Denmark is something we are looking forward to.’ She added that SWERMA was currently discussing arrangements for better cooperation between the Scandinavian risk management associations (NORIMA, SWERMA and DARIM).
