The Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association (PARIMA) confirmed it has partnered with FERMA to offer the new certification framework to its members, at yesterday’s awards ceremony.
FERMA’s long-awaited certification programme, launched yesterday at Venice, will extend to Asia-Pacific.
The Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association (PARIMA) confirmed it has partnered with FERMA to offer the new certification framework to its members, at yesterday’s awards ceremony.
The certification, entitled rimap®, will provide independent confirmation of the professional competences, experience and standards of individual risk managers, and accreditation for the risk management programmes of educational bodies.
rimap® rests on four pillars: knowledge, experience, continuous professional development (CPD) and a code of ethics.
Speaking to StrategicRISK after the launch, Michel Dennery, current vice-president, FERMA, said: “The [plan] is now concrete – [PARIMA and FERMA] are going to launch certification together and [PARIMA] is going to offer rimap [to its members].
“We are not going to have a [dedicated] certificate for Asia. [PARIMA] will offer the same basis of knowledge, experience, code of ethics, same system for professional CPD [as Europe].”
Founding members
FERMA marked the occasion with the award of Founder Certification to individuals in the risk management community who have been responsible for the creation, development and initial testing of the essential elements of certification (see box).
They will be ambassadors for rimap®. FERMA intends to open applications for Certification in early 2016, with the first awards expected in the spring.
Dennery said: “We are really excited about the launch – it is a key milestone that we have passed now. “
“Certification is key to recognising professionalism in risk management.”
