Stranger danger and safety in the home are just two of the topics Coventry's local schoolchildren are learning about with the help of an interactive puppet show.

Puppets and their actor chums visited nine special schools during March to educate and entertain children with 'Risk Management on Show'. The 30-minute show encourages children to recognise risks in everyday situations including in the kitchen, going to school and when using medicines.

Head teacher of Sherbourne Fields, one of the schools taking part, said: "We're always looking for interesting ways to get important messages across to our children and we jumped at the chance to take part. The children are looking forward to the show and we hope that as well as enjoying themselves they learn some valuable safety messages."

The show, which aims to teach children basic risk awareness, was organised by Coventry Council's risk management team. Cllr Tony O'Neill, cabinet member responsible for risk management, commented, "Being able to recognise dangerous situations and knowing what to do about them is important for everyone, especially young people. Making learning about risk interesting through drama will hopefully make sure the children remember what they have learnt."
