Insurer announces new hires following news that Patrick de La Morinerie will retire in May
AXA Corporate Solutions has made a string of senior appointments following news that Patrick de La Morinerie deputy chief executive, will retire on 6 May.
Dr. Jürgen Kurth will replace Patrick de La Morinerie as global chief underwriting officer.
After a career as industrial risk’s underwriter, Kurth became chief executive of AXA Corporate Solutions Germany, which ranked within the top three corporate insurers on the German market during his tenure.
In addition, he has successfully launched operations in Switzerland and more recently in Austria, which he will continue to supervise as regional chairman.
Kurth is also Chairman and chief executive of AXA MATRIX Risk Consultants.
Matthieu Caillat, chief executive of AXA Corporate Solutions UK, will work with Kurth as deputy global chief underwriting officer. As part of his new responsibilities, Caillat will focus on the French brokers and client’s underwriting activities.
An engineer by training, Caillat started his career at AXA Corporate Solutions in the specialty markets’ team where he contributed to the launch its space line of business.
Caillat then moved to the UK where he has been appointed chief executive of AXA Corporate Solutions UK.
Gaëlle Tortuyaux, current head of property, construction and liability underwriting of the UK branch, will be appointed chief executive of AXA Corporate Solutions UK.
The appointments will be effective in May.
