Sir Clive Thompson, chief executive of Rentokil Initial plc, will give the prestigious 2000 AIRMIC annual lecture later this year. Elected president of the CBI in July 1998, Sir Clive has an impressive senior management career record leading Rentokil Initial for 17 years. Prior to this he was with Cadbury Schweppes PLC, The Boots Company PLC and Royal Dutch Shell Group.
In 1994, Rentokil was voted "Britain's most admired company" in a survey of senior executives in Britain's top companies. It is one of the world's largest service organisations, employing 130,000 people, so Sir Clive's words will be listened to intently by risk managers and their guests attending the lecture.
Previous presenters of the AIRMIC lecture have been Sir Alastair Motion, the former co-chairman of Eurotunnel; Ed Gallagher, the chief executive of the Environment Agency; Sir Sydney Lipworth, QC, the chairman of Zeneca; John Monks, general secretary of the TUC; Tony Rice, group managing director commercial aircraft for Bae, and Nigel Turnbull of The Rank Group.
