Insurance broker Marsh has formed a new UK practice for broker networks within Jelf and Bluefin’s direct and partnership division

Marsh has launched a new Marsh Networks practice in the UK within Jelf and Bluefin’s direct and partnership (D&P) division.

The broker said the new broker network business is made up of the Marsh ProBroker, Purple Partnership and Bluefin Network.

These collectively serve over 230 firms across the country’s independent broking community, Marsh said.

Marsh bought Bluefin Insurance Group in January 2017, which is in the process of being combined with Jelf Group.

The combined D&P unit includes affinity and schemes, personal lines, and insurance services designed for small- and medium-sized enterprises, said the broker.

David Hopwood, previously managing director of Bluefin Network, has been appointed as head of Marsh Networks.

“With our new Marsh Networks strategy, independent brokers can now choose from three distinct propositions, according to the products and services they require and the level of relationship support they need,” said Hopwood.

Marsh ProBroker, Purple Partnership, and Bluefin Network will continue to be led and managed as separate entities under their present leadership.

“And, for those brokers that do not wish to join a network, they can still gain access to Marsh’s products and services, offering a higher degree of flexibility than ever before,” Hopwood continued.

Duncan Carter, CEO of the D&P division, added: “The independent broking community is a vital part of the UK’s insurance industry, serving clients across the length and breadth of the country.

“We are committed to the continued development of Marsh ProBroker, Purple Partnership and Bluefin Network, which includes the enhancement of distinct products and services to provide independent brokers with the opportunities and support they need to make their businesses more successful.”
